A patio is where the garden actually gets used — morning coffee, evening drinks, kids' paddling pools, barbecues with the neighbours. If yours is cracked, uneven, or was never quite big enough, it's worth doing properly rather than patching around the edges. We lay Indian sandstone, large-format porcelain, and traditional slab patios, paths and garden steps across Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Cheshire and Birmingham, always with proper foundations and falls so water drains away from the house rather than pooling against it.
Choosing The Right Patios & Paving
Indian Sandstone
Natural riven-texture stone in warm buff, autumn and grey blends — no two slabs identical, which gives a patio real character rather than a uniform, manufactured look.
Large-Format Porcelain
A contemporary, low-maintenance option — frost-proof, stain-resistant, and available in large slab sizes for a clean, minimal-joint finish that's increasingly the go-to choice for new patios.
Slate & Textured Paving
A darker, more dramatic finish that works particularly well for paths, steps and smaller courtyard areas where you want real contrast against planting or lawn.
Steps & Level Changes
Sleeper-edged or slab steps built to safely manage sloped gardens, tying different patio and lawn levels together properly rather than leaving an awkward drop.
Done Properly, Start To Finish
- ✦ Full excavation and compacted sub-base under every patio — not laid straight onto soil or old concrete
- ✦ Correct falls away from the house to prevent damp and standing water
- ✦ Neat, consistent pointing/jointing for a lasting finish
- ✦ Steps and edging built to the same standard as the main patio area
- ✦ Site cleared and jet-washed on completion

How It Works

Free Quote & Design Chat
We talk through stone/porcelain options, layout and any level changes, and give you a clear itemised quote.

Excavate & Lay Base
Ground excavated, sub-base compacted, correct falls set before a single slab goes down.

Lay, Point & Finish
Slabs laid to pattern, jointed and cleaned — ready to use as soon as the mortar's cured.
Typical timescale: A typical patio (30–50m²) takes 3–6 days depending on size, stone choice and whether steps or level changes are involved.
What Homeowners Say
A waterlogged, unusable turfed area at our commercial site was transformed into a clean, well-drained hardstanding. The team worked around our opening hours, communicated well throughout, and left everything tidy.
Converted our single car drive into space for three cars, finished in just three days. Friendly team, and great with our nervous dog too.
Patios & Paving Questions Answered
Both are excellent; it comes down to look and upkeep. Sandstone is a natural stone with rich colour variation and a classic feel, but benefits from an occasional reseal. Porcelain is manmade, extremely low-maintenance, frost and stain resistant, and keeps its colour with virtually no upkeep. We'll bring samples of both to your quote visit.
Not if it's laid properly. Every patio we lay has a calculated fall (typically 1:80) directing water away from the house and into a suitable drainage point — this is one of the most commonly skipped steps by less experienced installers, and the most common cause of a "failed" patio.
In many cases, yes — bring us the stone reference or a sample and we'll source a close match, or discuss a border/contrast option if an exact match isn't available.
Yes, regularly — sleeper-edged and slab steps to safely manage level changes are one of our most common garden jobs, and something we can design in alongside a new patio or as a standalone project.
